What Are Conference Scams?

Conference scams are based upon invitations to non-existent conferences and trade-shows. There will be an upfront fee to pay to attend the trade show, which is the scam. None of the trade shows are ever real, but sometimes the scam emails about the trade shows will be quite elaborate and contain fake websites as well.

In all cases though these scams involve a type of fraudulent criminal practice known as “Advance Fee Fraud”, a.k.a. “419 Scams”.
