What To Do If You Receive A Suspicious Email?

Post by Jacked-In »

If you receive an email from anyone who you don't know, and which contains an offer of any sort, even just to chat and be friends with you online, it could be part of a fraudulent internet scam designed to steal money from you.

First, don't reply to the email at all or provide any personal documents or information to the sender of the email under any circumstances. Then, follow the steps below in regards to the suspicious email:

1 - Copy and paste the sender's email address into the search box in the upper right-hand corner of this website to see if the suspicious email has already been recorded on this website as being a fraudulent scam email. If there is more than one email addresses within the email header, or within the body of the email, then it is best to search for each of the email addresses individually on this website to improve your chances of locating the email on this website.

2 - If you don't find the email by searching via email address, then the next step is to search by the sender's name or company name used in the suspicious email to see if you can locate the email on this website that way.

3 - And, finally, if you don't find anything about the email by searching on this website using the above two methods, then please use the Contact us link at the bottom of the website and send us an email message containing the copy and pasted email text from the suspicious email message you received. Any information you send us will be kept fully confidential. We will respond to your message as soon as possible, which is usually within less than 24 hours.

4 - You should also contact your local authorities right away about the suspicious email if it is of a threatening nature or attempts to blackmail or extort money from you by requesting payment via Bitcoin or by any other form.

Or, if you have any other questions about suspicious emails in general, then please feel free to Contact us. We are here to help...
